Cangshan MountainCangshan Mountain1

Mt. Cangshan (Cangshan Mountain) has an amazing view of the lake and the Dali Plato area, the cable car would one of the newest I have even seen in China. You go up to 3600m, you can climb higher but it’s a long walk for basically the same view.

While in this site seeing area you also see the Gantong Temple, Qingbi Stream.

That’s it really, a great view and a good walk,

Cangshan Mountain2If you like a good hike, once you are up there the local tourist board have built a flat paved walkway that winds around the mountains for about 13kms, it’s a wonderful walk, at the end you have to take a chairlift down the mountain, this chairlift takes you very close to the next major site of the Three Pagodas of Chongsheng Temple.

Three Pagodas of Chongsheng Temple are the oldest standing structures in Yunnan, which has become the emblem of Dali. With Cangshan Mountain in the background, the majestic towers stand on a hill and are visible from almost any vantage point within Dali and the surrounding area.

The tallest of the three, Qianxun Pagoda, has 16 tiers that reach a height of 69.13 meters. It was first built in the period 824 - 839 in the Tang Dynasty. It is flanked by two smaller 10-tierd pagodas, which are 42.19 meters each.Three Pagodas of Chongsheng Temple1
